Q: My mother takes so many medications each day that sometimes she gets confused. How does your community handle giving medications to its residents?

A:

Grove Manor provides two distinct medication management services:
SAMM - Self Administered Medication Management. Under this program, a Resident Assistant will remind your mother when it is time to take her medication and observe her as she takes it.

LMA-Limited Medication Administration. Under this program, a licensed nurse will administer your mother's medication according to the doctor's orders, reorder when the supply gets low and communicate any issues to your mother's doctor regarding her medication.

A nurse is on site from 8:00AM to 9:00 PM seven days a week and is on-call 24 hours a day. In all these programs, medications are secured in their apartments.

Q: My mother is being released from a hospital and moving to an assisted living community, but still needs some rehabilitation. Do we need to bring her to a rehabilitation facility every day?

A: Grove Manor Estates has affiliation with a local rehabilitation company, which provides therapists for occupational, speech and physical therapy at a clinic based within Grove Manor itself. We have found that residents respond to therapy better when in their own comfortable environment. Routine therapy is available should the need arise.

Q: Does my mother have to make any substantial down payment or buy-in fee upon entrance to  your facility? Is there a community fee?

A: No, Grove Manor Estates does not charge any up front fees. Upon signing the lease, the resident pays the first month's rent, including any applicable personal service fees that they have contracted for, and one month's security deposit.

Q: How do residents get to doctor's appointments?

A: Grove Manor Estates provides scheduled days of transportation to and from doctor's offices within the immediate area of Braintree and the four towns that border Braintree. We also provide transportation to Milton and Carney Hospitals. For your added convenience we have an affiliation with a local internist and a podiatrist who visit our community monthly to see their patients.

Q: What would a typical day be like for my mother living at Grove Manor Estates?

A: She'll start the day with a full hot breakfast cooked to order in our sunny dining room, followed by a full schedule of activities which will challenge her mentally, provide physical activity, creative expression and opportunities for religious services. At noon, a hot special is provided along with a variety of sandwiches, healthy home-made soups and desserts. Activities continue throughout the afternoon- trips, musical entertainment and much more. Opportunities to socialize continue into dinner, which is the main meal of the day. Evening activities may include movies, entertainment and other relaxing events. Personal care your mother may need will be provided throughout the day.

Q: I am from out of state and my mother would like to move to The Glen at Grove Manor as an  independent resident. My concern is what happens as her health declines with age? Will she  be able to stay within the community?

A: Grove Manor Estates offers three levels of care to provide for the changes in care needs as they age. The Glen, our independent living community, is also licensed to provide assisted care. If necessary, a resident can transfer to the Grove to provide additional supervision and three meals a day. Within the Grove, our special care unit, the Woodlands, is designed and structured for residents requiring 24-hour care due to advanced dementia or frailty.

Q: My mother is having some issues with her memory. What happens when her memory deteriorates over time to a point when she needs more care and/or supervision?

A: Grove Manor Estates has within its community a specialized care unit designed for persons with Alzheimer's disease and other memory disorders and for residents requiring a higher level of care. Staffing ratio per resident is similar to that found in a nursing home. We employ an experienced activities director who is dedicated solely to The Woodlands unit and is responsible to facilitate a daily activities program tailored to the needs of our residents. All medications for residents in The Woodlands unit are administered only by licensed nurses through our Limited Medication Administration (LMA) Program. All staff are trained and certified by the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Association.

Q: What happens if my mother's needs are too great and she needs a nursing home?

A: The A. Franchi Family, who own and operate Grove Manor Estates, also own and operate The Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood, MA and Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham, MA. Priority will be given to our residents residing in Grove Manor should there be a need  to enter one of our nursing homes. The A. Franchi Family has over 30 years of senior healthcare experience.
